<image:title>Sculpting Wax</image:title>
<image:caption>This wax is my own personal recipe and is made from micro-crystaline wax mixed with dry clay powder. Whereas Plastecine can become sticky and polymer clays are rather expensive , this wax has the consistency of plasticine with a dryer and firmer workability. Each piece that is cut or broken off from the block does need to be kneaded and wedged in your fingers in order to warm it up and make it pliable and consistent. I suggest having corn starch, (or Talcum powder) to get rid of stickiness and petrolium jelly (Vaseline) to smooth and soften, in order to achieve the required consistency whilst you work . You can also melt the wax , and stirring whilst it cools , you can get a very soft consistency with which to sculpt quickly, whilst it is still warm . The price is per single block of sculpting wax the image shows 2 blocks .</image:caption>

Sitting comfortably in the palm of your hand you can swivel it around and get into corners whilst having maximum leverage. This tool is bound to become your favourite for its versatility and many sculpting applications. Good for shaping ears and noses, lips and eyelids , this small but strong tool is a must in your toolbox.</image:caption>

<image:title>45cm Figurative Wire Armature</image:title>
<image:caption>What is an Armature? An armature is a structure that helps to support a sculpture from the inside. Mostly made from wire or welded mild steel it is made to carry the weight of the clay or wax that will be sculpted around it. In this case the soft aluminium wire allows for the sculptor to change their mind and adjust the pose as they work. It is really only suitable to add plasticine, or oil-based clay or polymer clays to this armature as they do not shrink and allow the sculptor time to add a lot of detail. This 45cm long Wire Structure is only 1/4 of an average human figure in length, but volumetrically it would read as 1/8 of the figure .</image:caption>

<image:loc>https://marinawalshdesigns.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/AW-Art-Minotaur-Ariadne-33-scaled.jpg</image:loc>
<image:caption>This is a solid bronze, exquisitely sculpted original artwork of an imaginary female minotaur, which in greek mythology is called an 'Ariadne'. Kneeling in a contemplative pose she has the body of a young woman and the head of a calf. Created during our classes, Alice Walsh sculpted this sensitive piece which is only 6cm wide x 6cm deep x 10cm high and sits on a sandstone base which is 10cm wide x 7,5cm deep x 3,5 cm high. The whole sculpture weighs 1,2 kg and together with the base it is 13,5cm high x 7,5cm wide x 10cm deep. It has a black patina with hints of turquoise green and bronze. The edition size is only 18. Alice is a qualified fine artist and runs an illustration, animation and info graphic studio. You can view her work under www.fablestudio.co.za</image:caption>

<image:title>Long handled hand-tool with large half round wire loop</image:title>
<image:caption>For hollowing, shaping and smoothing larger clay sculptures Whole length: 22cm long I have always struggled with tools that are not strong enough to dig out hardened clay from a sculpture or to hollow large objects made from clay or wax. This hand-turned hardwood handle is shaped to allow for access into difficult to reach areas, whilst providing a good grip and strong loop-to-handle attachment. Specifically designed for bulk removal of clay when hollowing your sculptures for firings, it is also suitable for soft shaping, smoothing and texturing with one smooth and one serrated edge. All loops are imported from the USA and made from high grade tempered stainless steel. The handles are handmade from the hardest woods in South Africa by a highly skilled craftsman who also makes handcrafted pens. The loop is secured to the handle with a chemical anchor and with the right care, this tool should last you a lifetime. </image:caption>
