Albany Thicket by Marina Walsh

Sculpting Tools & Artworks

Out of the need for strong and durable tools that facilitate the sculptural process, we have launched a product range called Albany Thicket. Named after a biome that is unique to the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is  home to twisted vines, dense thickets and unusual creatures.

Small Bronzes

  • This is a solid bronze, exquisitely sculpted original artwork of an imaginary female minotaur, which in greek mythology is called an 'Ariadne'. Kneeling in a contemplative pose she has the body of a young woman and the head of a calf. Created during our classes, Alice Walsh sculpted this sensitive piece which is only 6cm wide x 6cm deep x 10cm high and sits on a sandstone base which is 10cm wide x 7,5cm deep x 3,5 cm high. The whole sculpture weighs 1,2 kg and together with the base it is 13,5cm high x 7,5cm wide x 10cm deep. It has a black patina with hints of turquoise green and bronze. The edition size is only 18.  Alice  is a qualified fine artist and runs an illustration, animation and info graphic studio. You can view her work under www.fablestudio.co.za
